An Evening of Recognition

The Evening of Recognition, held on December 2, 2004 in the William J. Scala Academy Room, celebrated the election of three more alumni of the College to the National Academy of Engineering and recognized the naming of two new endowed chair holders in the School of Engineering.

 

Manhattan College proudly claims fourteen of its alumni/ae as members of the prestigious National Academy of Engineering.  During the Evening of Recognition, Dr. James Cooley, Dr. Thomas Romesser, and Mr. Richard Tomasetti were honored as the three most recent alumni elected to the Academy.  Their bronze plaques join eleven others now on display in the Academy Room.

 

As part of the Evening of Recognition celebration, Dr. Moujalli Hourani, Chair of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, was named the first Thornton-Tomasetti Faculty Fellow to occupy the Thornton-Tomasetti Endowed Chair in Civil Engineering.  Also, Dr. Robert Sharp, Associate Professor of Environmental Engineering, was named the first Donald J. O'Connor Faculty Fellow to occupy the Donald J. O'Connor endowed chair in Environmental Engineering.

 

A reception and dinner in the Leo Engineering Dining Area followed the Evening of Recognition ceremony.
