The Chemical Engineering program at Manhattan
College was established in 1958. The department offers a strong traditional
curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering degree.
Chemical engineers combine mathematics and
advanced chemistry with engineering principles to design, develop and operate
industrial processes for the manufacture of a host of products including baked
goods, beverages, medicine, cosmetics, gasoline, heating oil, plastics,
synthetic fibers, paint, solvents and chemical intermediates. A chemical
engineer's training permits the student to work in design and construction,
computer simulation, specialty chemicals, industrial gases, food processing,
petroleum fractionation, polymers, pollution prevention and remediation,
pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or pulp and paper industries.
