PAUL MARNELL has been a member of the Chemical Engineering Department at Manhattan College since 1978. Prior to joining Manhattan, he was Manager of Environmental Projects at the American Branch of the Lurgi Corporation, a world wide leader in Process Technology. In that position he supervised the coordinated design and construction of the first U.S. Sulfacid plant for U.S.S. in Pittsburgh. While at Manhattan, Dr. Marnell has also been a consultant to industry and government. He initiated the coal water fuel program at Brookhaven National Laboratory, and published numerous papers on this technology.

Currently Dr. Marnell is writing a book: Modern Engineering Computations with Mathematica for John Wiley..

Dr. Marnell's favorite non-professional activity is spending time with his family, which consists of his wife Patricia and daughter Vanessa who is a professional (certified) yoga instructor teaching at health clubs, dance studios, and elementary schools. They love to walk along the ocean, cycle, and watch old movies.

Professional Interests:

Process and plant design; engineering economy; using Mathematica in chemical engineering.

Managed industrial projects in oil shale technology, pollution abatement systems, and coal-water fuels. Extensive publications in these and other areas of energy technology.
