The environmental engineering program is available as a master's program only. There are also several certificate programs available.
Environmental engineering is a broad and diverse discipline involving all phases of the basic sciences including mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics and computer science. This program prepares students for careers at environmental consulting firms, in government agencies and in private industry, where they will work to solve the many challenges of life in this evolving world: providing safe drinking water, clean air and waterways, proper disposal of solid and hazardous waste, effective environmental site restoration, and responsible management of our natural resources.
Our program is recognized nationally for its ability to produce well-prepared environmental engineers. The environmental engineering program at Manhattan College dates back to 1939 and has an international reputation for being at the forefront of the field.
Our masters of engineering program in environmental engineering is ABET accredited.
The master of engineering and the master of science in environmental engineering programs are designed to provide engineers and scientists with advanced training in environmental-process engineering, water quality assessment modeling, geo-environmental engineering and environmental management. Emphasis is placed on both current applications and the underlying theoretical basis for sound engineering practice, in keeping with the humanistic need for maintaining and improving environmental quality.
The educational objectives for environmental engineering graduate program state that environmental engineering graduates will be recognized for:
Their leadership, achievement and involvement in engineering and related professions, through service in private and public agencies and in research and academic institutions.
Their dedication to enhancing the engineering profession through continuous self-improvement.
Their commitment to working towards engineering a sustainable environment for New York City and the world.
Their ethical practices and professionalism.
