closed on Wednesday! Sign up!
Planning Board for the Mini-Conference. We are looking for a few people
to help plan the conference in the spring. Sign Up with Brock After the meeting.

Meeting Date: September 30th, 2002
Welding
Class. Scheduled to start tomorrow. There is a sign up sheet in the office
next to the ASME stuff. If you are planning on coming please sign up so the Dr.
Walker doesn't waste his time. If nobody signs up and or nobody comes, i have my
doubts that we will offer things like this in the future.
ASME/ Pi Tau Sigma afternoon tea Merhie sent some email about this. We
(PTS and ASME) are sponsoring a departmental get together. It will be in RLC 205
on WED at 4:30 (sophomores it was moved back so you could attend so I want to
see you all there). Freshmen and Juniors it is very important that you attend.
It will be fun and we will have free food. Just come!
HPV My apologies about the sudden cancellation of the meeting monday
afternoon. We will be having our second meeting on Wed. at 3:30 in RLC 200. All
are encouraged to come who are interested. We will be deciding on the overall
shape of the vehicle and the riders position.

AIAA- This is a society like ASME, but geared to aeronautical
engineering. Do we want to start (or more to the point, resurrect MC's chapter)
one here at MC? If so, talk to Dr. Naraghi.
How we all doing? Does anyone need help out there with class work or
anything else? Underclassmen, would you use a intradepartmental tutoring
session? Upperclassmen, would you volunteer your time to such a thing?

Special interest talk- Dr. Pritchard is working on putting together a
guest speaker for Aeronautical Engineering. What day is best? I am thinking
Wednesday afternoons? Ya got to let us know if you have a pov.

Human Powered Vehicle- Rules attached. We want to do this and the department is behind us if we are serious. Who wants in and at what level?
Football Game- Paul
E-Mentoring- ASME runs an e-mentoring program. If you know that you are interested in something then you should check this out. Good way to get internships for the summer or job offers post grad.
Regional Design Project- West Point got it. Dr. P any new info?
Leadership Conference- October 5th at Columbia. It is Free. It is an all day thing. See attached email for more info. Brock is going, does anyone want to come. Let me know now so we can RSVP together.
Field Trips- Vinny to talk about the power plant trip and to select a date. Brock to talk about Hudson and B’way.
Freshmen/ Membership- What are we doing get the freshmen involved? Brock is going to their ENGS 115 on Friday. Paul and other class representatives talk about that they need/ have done.
Special Interest Talks- Vote on the topics. See Attached. Rank them in order of your first choice to you last choice. WRITE IN new ideas.
Welding Class/ Machine Shop- Several (seven to ten) students have come to be about a welding class. My idea is a set time when there will be somebody in the machine shop (say for an hour a week) and students can come and get hand on experience working with the machines. Next week from 4-5 Dr. Walker has volunteered his time in the machine shop. If you want to learn some welding and get to know how to use machines, SIGN UP with Brock.
One Night Design Project- Groups of four, Senior though Freshmen. 20 bucks per team to enter. Winning team takes home 200 buck. A blind design project created/ judged by the department. Interested? Pick a date if we are.
