Mechanical Engineering Projects I.  Individual student research or design projects.  Where applicable, computer  methods, experimental work, and literature study will be used.  Proposal and report required.  Six to nine hours of project.  (Taken only with approval of advisor and chairperson of department.)  (Cr.3) 

Prerequisites. MECH 314, 316, 323, 325.  

 

Course Objectives:

 

The student will be able to:

  • Research and/or design a mechanical engineering system.

  • Integrate professional, ethical and safety issues into a semester long “research/design” project.

  • Present their project in a  professional manner.

Topics:

The main purpose of this course is for a student to work independently on a semester long project. It may be research oriented or design oriented. Required are two written reports: a proposal and a final report.
