Computer-Aided Design.  Design process using CAD software.  Solid modeling, finite element modeling and simulation.  Students are required to design an original project in one or more of the following areas:  solid mechanics, mechanisms, or heat transfer.  Two two-hour laboratories. 3 Lectures (3 credits)

Prerequisites: MECH 323 and MECH 336

 

Course Objectives:

 

The student will be able to:

  • Model a mechanical system using a CAD software package.

  • Design a mechanical system using solid modeling and finite element analysis.

  • Write and present a report describing their CAD design project.
